All visitors to Nepal require a passport (valid for at least 6 months after your return to your home country) and an entry visa. A visa application should be obtained from the Nepalese Embassy, in London (click here to download Nepal visa application form ), or in your own country if you are not a British resident. Whilst it is advisable to organize your visa in good time, please remember that it is only valid for 6 months from the date of issue, i.e. you must enter Nepal within 6 months of the date of issue of the visa. The visa will be valid for a stay of up to 60 days in Nepal but can be extended at the Department of Immigration office in Kathmandu, if necessary. About 8 weeks prior to departure from your home country you should send your visa application to the appropriate Embassy with the current visa fee, which will be stated on the application form supplied by the Embassy. If you find yourself without sufficient time to deal with this, it is possible to obtain your entry visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmand. However, this can be a time-consuming exercise, which you may wish to avoid if you are part of a group, or in the main trekking seasons. However, if you need to use this facility, you should have GB£ or equivalent, as below, and 2 passport photographs with you for the purpose of obtaining your visa.
